An armor exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago inspired Elaine Unzicker to create wearable art crafted from stainless steel chainmail. Since the fluid movement of chainmail allows it to conform to the body, it takes on a shape unique to the wearer. Her work is reminiscent of the hand-crafted jewelry, a signature part of the Renwick Gallery’s collection of fine craft.
